It’s crack pipe.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

How much do they want for the car? Oh, only half a million dollars (though you can’t actually bring it into the US yet).

Also, Nissan had the Germans beat with the “tacked on infotainment” look.

The Z-tunes weren’t cheap when they were “new”. That said, it’s clear this dealer has been editing the Wiki page for the GT-R to make this price sound normal.

What makes this worth 500k?

R34s are going to be ridiculously expensive by the time they’re legal to import.

Yes, but even the Motorex cars are only in the 100-200k range. And there is <25 of those.

It’s not a crack pipe price. 1 of only 26 Z Tunes. Also, you could easily and legally get this into the US

So for the price of this car, you could have an R8, the current GT-R, and some cash left over? CP squared.

But for that price, you could buy an R34 and make it a Z-Tune.

For the price I could pay off my mortgage, my car, the last credit card, and set up college funds for the kids. I’d still work and vacation in far away lands twice a year...

That’s a GT-R Z-Tune, pretty much the pinnacle of the Skyline (or the GT-R) ‘They were stripped bare and completely rebuilt by NISMO. They weren’t a whole lot less than $500k when new.

No you couldn’t. There are a number of parts which Nissan no longer produces or refuses to sell to the public. Sure, you could replicate one, but that would never, ever, ever be a real Z Tune.

For that price, you could buy FOUR R35s!

Yeah - I don’t need a car here, and that money would sure help with a downpayment - we’re shopping for an apartment.

You could probably get it to the US under show and display. They’ve given the exemption to less rare and less significant GTRs.

I don’t think they will be. I figured the R32s would be very expensive ($40k+) once they were legal, and they’re going for low 20s. A ‘vanilla’ R34 will probably go for the equivalent in 10 years. This excludes all the special editions that are out there, of course!

Legal to import right now if you only use it as a race car on a track.

Couldn’t you buy a house in Canada, buy and register two r34's then ship them to the US. Drive around two r34's legally with no mileage limit for less than that one car.

With the show and display laws you are limited to 2500 miles a year. It would also be a huge challenge to register it legally.

I think they’ll be somewhere around 50K for a middle of the pack GTR. Good examples will go for more, rare editions will be much too out of reach for plebs like me.

That's pure speculation, though.

I’d probably spend 30k on a R34 now, but not half a million.

I don’t know much about the JDM Skylines. Can anyone provide basic numbers on these (speed, power output, engine, etc)?

That’s always the premise folks come back with in regards to skylines isn’t it? That the car model has all these variants (like the camaro, mustang) but then only Nissan is setting astronomical prices. Yeah the Lamborghini Reventon was limited to 20, but even those aren’t $500,000 and man (even if the Skyline was LHD, Id choose the Reventon first)

I’m pretty sure there’s no Motorex R34's. They’re mostly 32's and a couple 33's, IIRC.

If you get it into the US easily, it was not done legally. If you get it in legally, it will not be easy.

To do it legally you’d have to apply for Show and Display exemption, which is a slow government quagmire. As of the last time I checked the Show and Display list, the Z-Tune had not been approved or denied. If they approved it, you could get it in.

Otherwise the car is too new to be imported under Federal law, unless you’re doing an end-run around the law, in which case DHS seizes and crushes it.

Kinja'd!!! Dsscats > Tohru
02/07/2016 at 13:38

Kinja'd!!!0

It’s not that slow of a process, and it would be very easy to get approved under Show and Display.
